Driver’s License Suspension
My client was at fault in a car accident and did not have insurance to cover the other driver’s claim. He was sued, and lost. My client’s driver’s license was suspended by the DMV because of a Nebraska law which allows license suspension if you don’t pay on a car accident judgment. After a few months of not having a license, my client appeared in my office upset because he could no longer drive, and couldn’t find a job he could get to without a car. His bills were piling up beyond his control and he didn’t know what to do. He needed an Omaha bankruptcy lawyer.
My client was able to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy because he had not gotten a Chapter 7 discharge in the last eight years, and earned less than the average one-person household in Nebraska. After he gave me the information I need to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy (link to new section), I prepared his bankruptcy documents and we met the next day to review, sign, and file the bankruptcy.
It only took about four months for the bankruptcy to become final. Since the car accident judgment discharged in the bankruptcy, the DMV gave my client driver’s license back as soon as he had car insurance.
