Bankruptcy law requires very detailed information about your property and debts.
This is a basic list of bankruptcy information needed; in some cases, additional information or documents must be submitted.

Documents you have already, or will need to get to file bankruptcy:
All paystubs for the last seven months.
Any and all documentation of child support or spousal support you owe or are due.
Statement of public benefits received in the last seven months such as Social Security,
Veterans' Benefits, unemployment compensation, food stamps, ADC, etc.
Any other documentation of any type of income you received in the last seven months
including but not limited to: rent, gambling winnings, support from family members, etc.
Any Court documents involving you as a party in the last five years, including divorces
and child support actions, collection lawsuits, eviction judgments, foreclosures, etc.
Insurance policies (life, auto, renter’s and homeowners.)
All bank statements from any account in which you have any type of ownership interest
(individual or joint) for the last seven months. This includes retirement and other
financial accounts of any type.
An explanation from you (handwritten or typed) of deposits into your accounts in the last
seven months other than direct deposit pay. ("store return," "sold car," etc.)
Tax returns for the last two years, along with all attached Schedules and W-2s. Tax
transcripts can be obtained for free at 1-800-829-1040 if you do not have your tax returns.
Title to all vehicles (including boats.)
Most recent bills for any secured debts (mortgage and car loan statements, for example.)
A monthly profit & loss statement for all business ventures in which you were involved
in any way in the last seven months.
Your credit counseling certificate(s). Both spouses must complete this counseling in a
joint bankruptcy. The counseling must be completed at least one day before you file
bankruptcy. You will be given a list of agencies approved to give you this credit
counseling at your free bankruptcy consultation at the Law Office of Kate Owen.
